Role Summary

Our client, through Morsan HR, is seeking a competent and proactive Accountant to lead their daily financial operations within the telecommunications sector. This is a comprehensive role requiring a professional who can operate independently to manage everything from full-cycle bookkeeping in Xero to complex statutory tax compliance and payroll administration. You will act as a key guardian of the organization’s financial integrity, ensuring that all records are audit-ready, liquidity is managed effectively, and management is provided with accurate data to support strategic decision-making.

The Role

Full-Cycle Accounting & Bookkeeping

  • Maintain meticulous financial records using Xero accounting software, ensuring all transactions are posted accurately and on time.

  • Execute daily bookkeeping tasks, including revenue recognition, expense tracking, accruals, and prepayments.

  • Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, cash positions, and both supplier and customer ledgers.

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, managing the entire lifecycle from invoice verification to collections.

  • Maintain an organized physical and digital filing system to ensure a seamless audit trail.

Compliance & Payroll Administration

  • Prepare and submit all statutory returns, including VAT, PAYE, and Corporate Income Tax, ensuring full alignment with KRA requirements.

  • Process the monthly payroll with high precision, calculating all mandatory deductions such as NSSF and NHIF/SHIF.

  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise management on necessary adjustments to remain compliant.

  • Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants during annual assessments and regulatory audits.

Treasury & Financial Reporting

  • Monitor daily cash flow and prepare accurate cash forecasts to ensure operational liquidity.

  • Facilitate both local and cross-border financial transactions while adhering to strict authorization controls.

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow reports.

  • Analyze financial performance against budgets, highlighting variances and providing insights for cost optimization.

  • Maintain the fixed asset register and manage depreciation schedules.

Internal Controls & Operational Support

  • Identify potential financial risks and recommend improvements to internal accounting procedures.

  • Monitor operational expenditures against approved budgets to prevent overruns.

  • Support the procurement process through financial verification and documentation review.

  • Contribute to the continuous refinement of accounting systems to improve reporting speed and accuracy.

Qualifications & Skills

Professional Profile

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.

  • Professional Qualification: Minimum CPA Part II (CPA Finalist preferred).

  • Experience: 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a fast-paced business environment.

  • Technical Software: Mandatory practical working knowledge of Xero accounting software.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of Kenyan tax laws and labor regulations.

Key Competencies

  • Analytical Prowess: Strong ability to interpret complex financial data with high attention to detail.

  • Communication: Excellent written and spoken English for reporting and stakeholder engagement.

  • Independence: Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and work autonomously.

  • Integrity: High level of professionalism and the ability to handle confidential payroll and financial data.

  • Residency: Must currently reside in Nairobi or the immediate surrounding areas.
