Role Overview
This position keeps a busy office premises on Ngong Road clean, hygienic, and presentable for staff and visitors throughout the working day. Working under the direction of a Supervisor, the cleaner moves through reception areas, meeting rooms, workstations, corridors, kitchens, and washrooms on a fixed daily schedule, handling everything from routine dusting and mopping to deep sanitation of high-touch facilities. Because the role involves powered floor equipment and concentrated cleaning chemicals, the person in this post is also a frontline guardian of workplace safety — spotting spills, leaks, and hazards early and flagging them before they become costly problems.
Two full-time openings are available on-site, with a monthly salary of KSh 15,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing across workstations, reception lobbies, meeting rooms, hallways, and kitchen areas.
- Deep clean, disinfect, and restock washrooms every day so that hygiene standards are never compromised during peak office hours.
- Empty waste receptacles on a set routine, separate recyclable and non-recyclable materials, and move refuse to the designated collection points.
- Operate floor care machinery — vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, and polishers — safely and in line with manufacturer instructions.
- Inspect, clean, and correctly store all tools and machines at the end of each shift, and report any breakdown or damage promptly.
- Monitor stock of detergents, soaps, and other consumables, alerting the supervisor in good time when supplies are running low.
- Mix and apply cleaning chemicals and disinfectants strictly according to dilution and safety protocols, wearing the appropriate PPE during deep-cleaning and chemical handling tasks.
- Watch for and report maintenance faults, water leaks, spilled liquids, and general safety hazards noticed anywhere on the premises.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least one year of hands-on cleaning experience gained in a professional cleaning company or a corporate office environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate floor scrubbers, vacuum machinery, and polishers correctly and safely.
- Working knowledge of corporate hygiene protocols, sanitisation standards, and chemical safety guidelines.
- Physically fit and capable of sustaining an active, standing-and-moving cleaning routine for the full shift.
- Punctual, disciplined, and reliable, with an eye for detail and the ability to follow a set schedule without close supervision.
- Comfortable working as part of a team, able to communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues, and committed to honest, ethical conduct.
