Role Overview
At a Nairobi-based manufacturer of detergents and pool-treatment chemicals, this role takes charge of the daily rhythms of a field sales force while remaining personally involved in key account negotiations. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily field activities and route plans so sales representatives cover assigned territories efficiently and without overlap.
- Set monthly and quarterly revenue goals for each representative, tracking progress through key performance indicators and pipeline reviews.
- Coach team members on pitching, objection handling, and closing techniques through ride-alongs, role play, and structured one-on-one feedback sessions.
- Conduct regular client visits alongside the team to strengthen relationships with distributors, bulk buyers, and key decision-makers across commercial, industrial, and retail segments.
- Lead weekly sales meetings to assess target achievement, resolve field obstacles, and align operational priorities with commercial leadership.
- Monitor competitor pricing, promotional activity, and distribution shifts, translating market intelligence into actionable recommendations for management.
- Oversee credit control and payment collections, ensuring customers remain within agreed terms while proactively managing overdue accounts.
- Consolidate weekly forecasts, activity logs, and revenue data into management reports that guide stock planning and sales strategy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Three to five years of proven field sales experience, ideally in FMCG, detergents, cleaning chemicals, or manufacturing distribution.
- A documented track record of leading, supervising, or mentoring a field-based commercial team and improving collective output.
- Consistent history of meeting or exceeding revenue quotas and contributing to team growth targets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel for sales reporting, forecasting, and margin analysis.
- Advanced negotiation skills for securing corporate, industrial, and bulk supply contracts.
- Solid understanding of chemical and FMCG distribution channels, trade pricing, and credit risk control.
