Role Overview

This position places you at the financial core of a busy restaurant and conference venue in Naivasha, where every transaction, stock movement, and supplier invoice must be tracked with precision. Day to day, you will keep the general ledger current, match Point of Sale records against every payment channel, and partner with kitchen and stores teams to keep food and beverage costs in line. Your work directly protects the venue’s margins and ensures that statutory filings are always accurate and on time, giving management a reliable financial picture for running the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the full general ledger, post accurate journal entries, and keep supporting documentation organised for internal and external reviews.
• Reconcile daily Point of Sale transactions against cash, mobile money, card terminal settlements, and bank deposits, raising flags on any mismatch immediately.
• Verify revenue from food and beverage sales, conference bookings, and events against signed contracts and invoices, following up on discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly revenue summaries, profitability updates, and cash flow forecasts to support management decision-making.
• Run monthly bank reconciliations, petty cash counts, and ledger-to-subledger checks to maintain a clean balance sheet.
• Monitor department spending against approved budgets, investigate variances, and report cost trends to the Finance Manager.
• Coordinate physical stock counts for food, beverages, and operating supplies, calculate stock values, and review variance reports to reduce waste and theft.
• Process vendor invoices, reconcile supplier statements, support payroll preparation, and file all statutory returns including PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, VAT, and income tax within deadlines.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related business discipline.
• Professional certification such as CPA(K) or ACCA, or clear progress towards completion.
• 3 to 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally in hotels, restaurants, catering, or conference facilities.
• Working knowledge of hospitality Point of Sale systems, accounting ERP software, and advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modelling).
• Solid understanding of Kenyan tax legislation, statutory filing portals like iTax, and payroll deduction rules.
• Strong analytical judgement when reconciling sales, auditing stock, and reviewing supplier statements.
• High professional integrity and discretion when handling cash, payroll, and sensitive financial information.
