Role Overview
This position is for a results-driven sales professional who will own the full sales cycle inside a Nairobi-based furniture showroom, serving both high-end residential clients and corporate procurement teams. Day to day, you will welcome walk-in buyers, run consultative design conversations, draft accurate quotes and tailored proposals, then track each order from the workshop through to final installation so the client experience stays seamless from first impression to delivery. Your contribution matters because every closed sale directly fuels the company's revenue targets while reinforcing its reputation as a trusted source for custom and ready-made furnishings in Kenya's competitive interior design market.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, qualify, and convert new sales opportunities through showroom visits, trade referrals, proactive outreach, and participation in industry exhibitions.
- Conduct guided walkthroughs of the showroom, explaining material durability, joinery quality, custom finish options, and design features tailored to each client's space and budget.
- Prepare precise cost estimates, formal quotes, and sales contracts, then negotiate within approved pricing guidelines to close deals successfully.
- Advise clients on spatial layouts, fabric and wood selections, and complementary decor, actively cross-selling lighting, soft furnishings, and accessory lines to increase order value.
- Coordinate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to monitor fabrication timelines and arrange punctual, damage-free delivery and installation for clients.
- Maintain up-to-date records of customer interactions, quotation follow-ups, and pipeline activity in the company's CRM system to support forecasting and repeat business.
- Resolve client complaints or delivery issues quickly, ensuring satisfaction remains high and encouraging referrals from homeowners, architects, and project managers.
- Keep the showroom merchandising and furniture displays clean, styled, and inviting to support a premium retail experience.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A diploma or bachelor's degree in sales, marketing, business administration, interior design, or a closely related field.
- At least 2 to 3 years of proven sales experience in furniture, premium home furnishings, luxury real estate, or commercial office fit-out environments.
- Demonstrated ability to manage both residential buyers and corporate/B2B procurement relationships, with a track record of meeting monthly and quarterly sales quotas.
- Working knowledge of interior styling trends, spatial planning basics, and material selection, with formal design exposure considered a plus.
- Practical proficiency with CRM software, basic CAD or sketch tools for layout visualization, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong persuasive communication and presentation skills, enabling you to convey product value, craftsmanship, and design reasoning clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal judgement for building trust with architects, interior designers, property developers, and private homeowners.
- Meticulous attention to detail when recording custom measurements, fabric codes, finish specifications, and pricing figures without errors.
