Physiotherapist

Role Overview

You will join a clinical rehabilitation team providing physiotherapy care to both admitted patients and outpatient clients across orthopedic, neurological, and surgical wards. Your day-to-day work involves assessing each patient’s movement and functional limitations, delivering hands-on and exercise-based treatments, and tracking progress through structured follow-up. This role directly supports patient recovery, independence, and long-term wellbeing, while also contributing to disability classification and community reintegration efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial screenings and comprehensive assessments of patients to determine physical function, mobility limitations, and rehabilitation needs.
• Implement individualized treatment plans using therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, electrotherapy modalities, and hydrotherapy sessions in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Perform physical disability evaluations to support patient categorization, registration, and eligibility for support services.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records, including assessment findings, treatment delivered, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
• Educate patients and their families on condition management, home exercise programs, injury prevention, and safe mobility practices.
• Carry out scheduled home visits to assess home environments, monitor patient adherence to rehabilitation plans, and document recovery milestones.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other health professionals to adjust care plans and ensure continuity of treatment.
• Participate in patient follow-up reviews and contribute to discharge planning based on functional outcomes and long-term goals.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Registration and active license with the Physiotherapy Council of Kenya.
• Current membership with the Physiotherapists Association of Kenya.
• At least two years of professional experience working in orthopedic, neurological, and surgical care settings.
• A Diploma in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or an equivalent recognized qualification in a related rehabilitation field.
• Strong clinical reasoning skills for patient assessment, treatment planning, and progress evaluation.
• Ability to work independently during home visits while also functioning effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication skills for patient education, family counseling, and professional documentation.
