Role Overview
As a Retail Sales Associate, you are the face of the store and the person customers trust when choosing a fragrance or beauty product that feels right for them. Day to day, you'll be on the shop floor guiding shoppers through product options, demonstrating items, closing sales, and making sure the displays and stock look their best. Your ability to build genuine rapport and turn a browsing visitor into a loyal customer directly shapes the store's revenue and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome walk-in customers, identify their preferences and needs, and recommend suitable perfumes, cosmetics, or fashion products through hands-on demonstration and sampling.
- Drive individual sales performance by working toward agreed daily, weekly, and monthly targets and consistently looking for opportunities to upsell or cross-sell complementary items.
- Build repeat business by capturing customer preferences, following up where appropriate, and maintaining a welcoming, personalised service standard throughout the visit.
- Keep the sales floor fully merchandised — restock shelves, arrange displays, refresh testers, and ensure pricing and promotional signage is accurate and presentable.
- Monitor stock levels, flag low or fast-moving inventory to the supervisor, and support receiving, counting, and organising deliveries in the stockroom.
- Process transactions accurately at the point of sale, handle cash and card payments responsibly, and manage returns or exchanges in line with store policy.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-presented retail environment, including counters, testers, and fitting or sampling areas.
- Record basic sales and stock information in spreadsheets or internal systems and share observations on customer demand with the wider team.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Previous retail sales experience, ideally gained in perfumes, cosmetics, fashion, or a comparable consumer-facing industry.
- Strong customer engagement skills, with the confidence to approach shoppers, start conversations, and guide them toward a purchase.
- A demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Solid stock management and organisational ability, including attention to detail when handling inventory and maintaining displays.
- Basic IT literacy, including working competency in Microsoft Excel for recording and tracking information.
- A Diploma or Certificate in Business, Sales & Marketing, or a related field.
- A positive, self-motivated, and results-oriented attitude, with the flexibility to work as part of a team in a fast-paced store environment.
