Role Overview
This position is responsible for the safe, timely operation of assigned vehicles while supporting clinical teams during emergency response and patient transfers between facilities. You will work hands-on with medical staff to move patients securely, maintain vehicle readiness, and uphold traffic and safety standards every shift. Your role directly impacts patient outcomes by ensuring reliable transport and helping with life-saving tasks under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate assigned vehicles strictly as authorized, covering both routine trips and urgent emergency callouts.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date work tickets and logs for every vehicle you drive, documenting routes, tasks, and vehicle status.
- Clean the assigned motor vehicle inside and out to keep it presentable and hygienic for every journey.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on your vehicle's condition, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents encountered.
- Monitor the mechanical health of your vehicle, identifying and addressing common faults before they escalate.
- Protect the security and safety of passengers, the vehicle, and yourself on or off the road at all times.
- Follow all traffic laws and regulations, and immediately report any accidents or incidents to the police and the office.
- Assist clinical teams during emergency response and inter-facility patient transfers, helping to load and unload patients safely and supporting life-saving interventions as directed by medical staff.
Requirements & Qualifications
- KCSE Mean Grade D+ (PLUS) or an equivalent academic qualification.
- Valid driving license classes D1 and D2 with no current endorsements or pending violations.
- Completed First Aid training and currently holds a valid First Aid Certificate.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited provider.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, demonstrating the ability to assist during critical medical events.
- At least three (3) years of cumulative work experience at the grade of Driver III or a comparable driving position.
- Successful completion of the Occupational Trade Test III for Drivers, confirming hands-on driving and mechanical proficiency.
