Role Overview
This position keeps AWARD's training engine running — turning workplans into scheduled, well-resourced courses and making sure every fellowship cohort, partner institution and facilitator has what they need to learn effectively. The role blends instructional design, event production and vendor administration, so the person in it moves constantly between building curricula, configuring virtual classrooms, and managing trainer contracts and payments. Success here directly shapes how well AWARD delivers on its capacity-development mandate across in-person, online and blended formats.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, schedule and run AWARD training courses end to end, aligning each delivery with the annual workplan and confirming that materials, venues, tools and equipment meet AWARD's training standards before sessions begin.
- Serve as the technical producer for virtual and hybrid events — setting up breakout rooms, polls, waiting rooms, registration, interpretation channels, captions and recordings, and coaching trainers, staff and participants on how to use the delivery platforms confidently.
- Co-design and continuously refine curricula with subject matter experts, building modules that combine live sessions with self-paced components, embed accessible and inclusive learning practices, and extend learning through pre-course and post-course activities.
- Produce the full set of instructional assets — facilitator guides, learner guides, workbooks and session plans — and adapt them for in-person, virtual and hybrid delivery, including optimisation for the Learning Management System.
- Administer the trainer and resource-person roster: support recruitment and onboarding, maintain the expertise and qualifications database, draft and process contracts, terms of reference and service agreements, track renewals and expirations, and prepare payment documentation for the Finance Unit.
- Run assessment and feedback cycles, generating reports on attendance, completion, evaluations and learning analytics, then sharing findings with relevant units and feeding them back into curriculum reviews.
- Maintain the training knowledge base and Learning Community Portal so that workbooks, slides, handouts, reports and learning aids are consistently filed, current and easy to retrieve, and monitor portal usage to flag gaps.
- Act as the liaison point for partner institutions, development partners, trainers and participants — scheduling and documenting meetings, following up on action items and complaints, and keeping the stakeholder contact database current.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Master's degree in education, training and development, or a closely related field.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in capacity development and the management of training programmes, ideally within an international or regional organisation.
- Professional certification in virtual facilitation and learning technologies, or in e-learning instructional design.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting virtual and blended learning through digital learning technologies and techniques that keep learners engaged and collaborating.
- Practical experience administering a Learning Management System, plus a track record of providing live technical support during online events.
- Proven ability to manage and lead hybrid teams.
- Working knowledge of French is an asset, given that AWARD works with partners and participants from francophone countries.
- Experience designing or delivering capacity-development interventions on gender-responsive approaches in agrifood systems would be an added advantage.
