Role Overview

As a Driving Instructor reporting to the Branch Manager, you will be responsible for teaching learners both the theory and practical skills they need to become safe, capable drivers. Your day-to-day work directly shapes how well students understand road rules, handle a vehicle, and perform under test conditions. This role suits someone who can manage their own schedule and learner progress with minimal oversight while maintaining high instructional and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom-based theory lessons on traffic regulations, road signs, vehicle controls, and defensive driving principles.
• Conduct behind-the-wheel training sessions that cover core manoeuvres such as parallel parking, hill starts, lane changes, and emergency stops.
• Assess each learner's current skill level and tailor lesson plans to address gaps in knowledge or technique.
• Prepare students for NTSA licensing assessments by explaining test formats, scoring criteria, and common failure points.
• Keep accurate records of attendance, lesson progress, and learner performance for branch reporting.
• Perform routine safety checks on training vehicles before and after sessions, and flag any mechanical concerns promptly.
• Ensure all instruction complies with NTSA regulations and the organisation's own driving standards.
• Provide responsive customer service by answering learner questions, managing lesson bookings, and resolving scheduling issues professionally.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid driving license.
• NTSA Accredited Instructor Training Certificate and current Instructor License.
• KCSE certificate.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in technical training, driver instruction, or teaching.
• Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Technical Training, an automotive-related course, Education, or a related field is an added advantage.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Strong customer service, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
