Role Overview
This is a hands-on generalist HR leadership position with an established distributor of orthopaedic and medical supplies, based at the company's Eldoret operation. The holder owns the entire employee journey — from the advert that brings someone in, through daily attendance, conduct and development, to the clearance paperwork when they move on — while acting as the first source of practical, legally sound HR guidance for branch managers. Because the business supplies regulated medical products through several outlets, keeping personnel records, statutory obligations and workplace standards in order is what allows day-to-day operations to continue without interruption.
Key Responsibilities
- Run recruitment from start to finish: advertising roles, shortlisting and interviewing, carrying out reference and background checks, and delivering a structured induction so new hires become productive quickly.
- Track attendance, clock-in records, leave balances and absenteeism patterns across operational teams, and process every form of staff movement — branch transfers, promotions, contract amendments and exit clearances — with correct documentation at each stage.
- Protect the company's compliance position by keeping contracts, policies and people practices in step with current Kenyan employment law and statutory obligations.
- Manage disciplinary cases and employee grievances properly, including fair hearing procedures, written outcomes and records that can withstand scrutiny if challenged.
- Draft, review and roll out HR policies and the staff manual, then follow up to confirm that departments across all branches understand and apply them.
- Coordinate the performance cycle alongside departmental heads: agreeing targets, scheduling appraisals, documenting results and putting Performance Improvement Plans in place where gaps persist.
- Identify training needs, organise capacity-building sessions, keep development records, and sustain engagement, internal communication and staff recognition activity.
- Prepare management reports on headcount, turnover, leave usage and training activity, and maintain confidential personnel files in both digital and physical form.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related discipline.
- At least three years in a generalist HR management role; exposure to commercial distribution, healthcare or organisations operating from multiple locations is preferred.
- CHRP(K) or CIPD certification is an added advantage.
- Thorough working knowledge of Kenyan labour laws, statutory compliance duties and the mechanics of a fair disciplinary process.
- Confident with Microsoft Excel and Word, and comfortable using an HR information system to hold, retrieve and report on employee data.
- Assertive yet approachable, with the counselling and conflict-resolution skills to hold firm conversations with both staff and managers.
- Discretion you can be trusted with, since the role handles contracts, grievances and other sensitive business matters.
What We Offer / Why Join
- Gross monthly salary of KES 150,000.
- Full-time, on-site role based in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
- A direct reporting line into top executive management, so HR decisions sit close to the leadership table rather than behind layers of approval.
- A remit covering the whole HR function — recruitment, employee relations, compliance, performance and records — within an established distributor of orthopaedic and medical supplies.
