Role Overview
This is a hands-on warehouse leadership position within a food processing and FMCG operation based in Ruiru, Kiambu County. The person in this seat owns the full flow of materials through the stores — from the moment incoming raw materials, packaging and finished goods arrive at the gate to the moment they are issued to the production floor or dispatched out. Because manufacturing lines cannot afford to stand idle, the role directly protects output: accurate stock records, disciplined storage practices and reliable material availability are what keep production running and audits clean.
Key Responsibilities
- Run day-to-day receiving, storage, handling, issuing and dispatch activities for raw materials, packaging supplies and finished goods.
- Apply and enforce FIFO and FEFO stock rotation, maintain clear labelling and stock identification, and lay out the warehouse so that goods move efficiently and are easy to locate.
- Set minimum and reorder levels for materials, monitor consumption against daily production plans, and act early enough to prevent shortages that would halt the lines.
- Carry out regular physical counts, reconcile them against ERP records, and investigate and explain any variances rather than simply adjusting the figures.
- Flag slow-moving, obsolete, damaged or near-expiry stock and take practical steps to limit wastage and write-offs.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Quality Assurance so that incoming goods are inspected and cleared before they are put away, and work with Production and Planning on issuance timing and consumption tracking.
- Control all material issuance to the factory floor, keeping physical and digital stock records aligned at all times.
- Lead, roster, train and appraise the stores and warehouse team, and enforce PPE use, safe lifting practice, clear gangways and food-safety-aligned warehouse hygiene.
- Maintain complete stores documentation and produce weekly and monthly reports covering stock movement, variance analysis, stock aging and warehouse performance, keeping the department audit-ready.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Operations Management, Business Management or a closely related discipline.
- At least five years of progressive stores, warehouse or inventory management experience in FMCG, food processing or manufacturing environments.
- Strong working command of ERP inventory modules and warehouse management systems, including reconciliation and material planning.
- CPA qualification or certification in inventory management, warehousing, food safety or occupational safety and health would be a clear advantage.
- Numerical accuracy and the analytical ability to trace variance causes and solve inventory control problems.
- Proven capacity to lead a diverse warehouse team, hold people accountable and keep storage operations efficient under deadline pressure.
What We Offer / Why Join
- Full-time, permanent employment.
- Monthly salary of KSh 110,000.
- Duty station in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
- A role with direct visibility to senior management, where stores performance shapes production continuity.
Qualified candidates who meet the above requirements should submit an application letter together with a detailed CV showing their relevant FMCG background to the hiring office. Shortlisting is done on a rolling basis, so applying early is advised.
