Role Overview
In this role, you will be the primary instructor for learners working toward their driving licenses, delivering both theoretical lessons and practical behind-the-wheel training. Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will adapt lesson plans to each learner’s pace, helping them master vehicle control, road rules, and defensive driving techniques. Your daily work directly supports safer roads and produces confident, law-abiding drivers who reflect the branch’s commitment to quality instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct classroom-based theory sessions covering traffic signs, road regulations, vehicle mechanics, and safe driving principles.
- Deliver practical driving lessons in a dual-control vehicle across residential, urban, and highway environments.
- Evaluate each learner’s driving competence through periodic assessments and provide clear, constructive feedback.
- Prepare learners for NTSA driving examinations, ensuring they meet all required standards for licensing.
- Maintain up-to-date training records, attendance registers, and progress reports for every learner.
- Perform pre-lesson vehicle safety checks and report any mechanical issues to the Branch Manager promptly.
- Uphold NTSA instructor regulations and professional codes of conduct at all times.
- Deliver excellent customer service by addressing learner questions, scheduling concerns, and feedback courteously and on time.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A valid driving license for the relevant vehicle classes.
- NTSA Accredited Instructor Training Certificate and a current Instructor License.
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent.
- At least two years of experience in driver instruction, technical training, or teaching.
- A certificate, diploma, or degree in technical training, automotive studies, education, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong customer service, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
