Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- At least 15 (Fifteen) years cumulative work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Assistant Director, Corporate Communication or in a comparable position in the private or public sector.
- Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Public Relations, Corporate Communication, Journalism, Mass Communication, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Public Relations, Public Communication, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Certificate in a Leadership Course.
- Membership to a relevant professional body, where applicable.
- A valid practicing license, where applicable.
- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Deputy Director, Corporate Communication shall be responsible for the following functions:
- Overseeing development, implementation, and review of corporate communication policies, strategies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Advising management on policies and strategies for promoting service visibility.
- Overseeing development and implementation of the NLAS communication and branding strategy.
- Liaising with other departments to develop, package, and disseminate Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to stakeholders.
- Developing, implementing, and reviewing the NLAS customer service strategy.
- Coordinating Corporate Social Responsibility programmes.
- Developing an effective customer service charter and system.
- Managing the corporate image of the service.
- Establishing and managing linkages with other stakeholders.
- Overseeing the development and implementation of departmental budgets and work plans.
- Ensuring prudent utilization of resources allocated to the department.
- Overseeing preparation of newsletters, speeches, publications, and other materials.
- Managing internal and external communication channels.
- Undertaking staff training and sensitization on customer and public relations.
- Coordinating official communication with the media and coverage of NLAS events and activities.
Remuneration
Remuneration will be in accordance with NLAS Salary Scale, NLAS Grade 5: Kshs 202,875 x 19,303 – 22,2178 x 19,305 – 241,483 x 19,305 – 260,788 x 19,305 – 280,093 x 19,305 – 299,398 x 19,305 – 318,703 x 19,305 – 338,008 x 19,305 – 357,313 per month.
Terms of Service
NLAS Grades 1, 2 & 3 are on a three-year contract basis, renewable once. All other grades, including Grade 5, are on permanent and pensionable terms.
