Role Overview
This role sits directly on the delivery vehicle serving Kirigiti and the surrounding retail routes. You will work alongside the Van Sales Representative to sell fast-moving consumer goods to small shops, kiosks, and minimarts, while handling deliveries, offloading stock, and keeping the day's cash and inventory accounts accurate. Your daily performance has a direct impact on route revenue, retailer confidence, and the company's ability to expand its distribution network.
Key Responsibilities
- Ride with the sales van along the assigned route, call on shops, kiosks, minimarts, and wholesalers, and turn each visit into a confirmed order.
- Help load the vehicle at the warehouse, verify dispatch sheets before departure, and safely offload products at every delivery stop.
- Track van stock throughout the day by recording units loaded, units sold, customer returns, and end-of-day balances so that physical inventory matches paperwork.
- Collect cash and mobile money payments for completed sales in line with company payment policies and maintain accurate collection records.
- Set up product displays, apply price tags, and ensure brands remain visible and well-stocked at retail outlets.
- Resolve routine complaints such as short deliveries, damaged goods, or order mismatches quickly on-site, escalating only complex issues to the route supervisor.
- Gather feedback on competitor pricing, product demand, and trade promotions, and share these field insights at the end of each shift.
- Submit daily route summaries covering sales volumes, cash collected, stock movements, and any delivery challenges faced during the day.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Certificate or diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related commercial field.
- One to two years of active experience in van sales, direct store delivery, FMCG field sales, or route-based distribution.
- Proven ability to interact comfortably with retail shopkeepers, kiosk owners, distributors, and local traders.
- A valid Kenyan driving licence is an added advantage where driving duties may occasionally be assigned.
- Solid arithmetic and record-keeping skills for accurate stock counts, cash reconciliation, and daily sales documentation.
- Strong persuasion and negotiation skills, physical stamina for frequent loading and offloading, and high integrity when handling cash or inventory.
What We Offer / Why Join
- Direct, hands-on experience in FMCG route-to-market execution, giving you practical knowledge of field sales operations and retail distribution.
- A clear career path toward Lead Van Sales Representative, Route Supervisor, and Territory Manager positions.
- A gross monthly salary of Kshs. 20,000 as part of the standard compensation package.
