Role Overview
You will step into a hands-on teaching role at a technical and vocational training institution, delivering both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to learners in your field of specialisation. Working closely with curriculum standards and industry expectations, you will guide students from foundational concepts through to competent, job-ready practice. Your daily effort directly influences the quality and credibility of the institution’s training programmes and the future employability of its graduates.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging theory lessons and practical demonstrations that align with the institution’s approved curriculum and TVETA guidelines.
- Develop learning materials, assessment tools, and training aids that accommodate different learning paces and styles.
- Assess learners through continuous, competency-based evaluation and provide clear, constructive feedback on their progress.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, marks, and competency attainment, ensuring all reporting is complete and audit-ready.
- Supervise learners during workshop, studio, or laboratory sessions, enforcing safety protocols and proper use of equipment and tools.
- Identify and address individual learning challenges, offering guidance and remedial support where needed to keep learners on track.
- Collaborate with fellow trainers to improve course content, share teaching techniques, and ensure consistency across related modules.
- Participate in departmental meetings, quality assurance reviews, and periodic inspections conducted by the training authority or institution leadership.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Diploma, Higher National Diploma, or Degree in a field directly relevant to the training area you will teach.
- A valid TVETA Trainers License is mandatory — applications without this credential will not be considered.
- At least two years of experience in instruction, either in a vocational training environment or an industrial setting where mentoring and skill transfer were core duties.
- Proven practical competence in your trade area, including familiarity with modern tools, equipment, and industry practices.
- Solid understanding of Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) principles and assessment methods.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the flexibility to adapt to learners of differing academic backgrounds.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and disciplined learning environment.
