Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits at the meeting point of learner success and community operations, helping people move through the ALX program while keeping the hub safe, organised, and welcoming. Day to day, you will respond to learner questions, unblock progress, coordinate with mentors and program managers, and handle the practical details that keep a learning community running smoothly. Your work matters because learners stay engaged when they feel supported, and they thrive when the spaces and systems around them are reliable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a dependable first point of contact for learners, answering questions promptly and connecting people to the right resources across their program journey.
  • Coordinate onboarding and orientation touchpoints so new learners start their courses with clarity and confidence.
  • Watch participation, attendance, and progress signals, then step in early with practical support when learners show signs of falling behind.
  • Keep learner milestone and outcome records accurate, and prepare regular updates that support program reporting and decision-making.
  • Run multi-channel communications and engagement campaigns, and help organise learning events, webinars, and workshops that strengthen the community.
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with hub partners and stakeholders, meet regularly with hub support staff, track delivery against duties, and surface operational challenges before they grow.
  • Uphold hub standards through weekly inspections covering cleanliness, safety, access, maintenance, and repairs, and report any property or asset issues promptly.
  • Gather monthly feedback from the ALX community on improvement areas, coordinate service providers, and maintain clear records of services rendered and related payments for reporting.

Requirements & Qualifications

Essential skills and experience

  • Clear, confident communication in person and in writing, with the ability to engage and motivate learners from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail, including the ability to manage several tasks and deadlines at once.
  • A resourceful problem-solving approach, with the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfort using common digital tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom.
  • Ability to read and interpret attendance, participation, and progress data to inform learner support.

Preferred background

  • Experience in education support, customer service, or learner-facing engagement roles.
  • Hands-on work with social media communities or digital learning platforms.
  • Familiarity with program or project management tools.
  • Exposure to data visualisation tools such as Google Data Studio or Power BI.

Personal attributes

  • Courage — you speak up, question the status quo, and take on unfamiliar challenges.
  • Humility — you stay open to learning, ask for help when you need it, and put service to others first.
  • Adventure — you set bold goals, enjoy difficult problems, and find joy in the process.
  • Initiative — you act without waiting to be told, take ownership, and go the extra mile.
  • Resilience — you recover from setbacks, persist through challenges, and grow stronger.
