Role Overview
This driver role is the backbone of daily transport for staff and visitors, ensuring every trip is safe, comfortable, and on schedule. Day to day, you will operate the vehicle, manage a dynamic schedule of pick-ups and drop-offs, and carry out routine inspections to keep the fleet road-ready. By combining safe driving with proactive vehicle care, you directly support the organisation’s mission and the well-being of everyone on board.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive in full compliance with traffic laws and adapt your technique to weather, road conditions, or congestion to maintain passenger safety.
- Maintain a detailed log of all trips, manage the transport schedule, and adjust plans as needed to respond to last‑minute changes or requests.
- Use GPS and live traffic updates to plan efficient routes and identify alternative paths when delays or closures occur.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after each shift, checking fluid levels, tyre pressure, lights, and overall mechanical condition.
- Keep the vehicle interior clean and comfortable, and ensure all service tags, inspection stickers, and legal documentation are current.
- Follow emergency protocols during breakdowns or accidents, coordinate with the appropriate teams, and know communication procedures.
- Respect passenger privacy and confidentiality, never sharing personal information or conversations witnessed during trips.
- Take on additional duties related to daily transport operations as assigned by your manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Expert driving skills with a thorough understanding of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and safe vehicle operation.
- Proficiency in using navigation systems, GPS devices, or mobile mapping apps to plan routes and navigate efficiently.
- Strong time‑management and route‑planning ability to ensure punctual pick‑ups and drop‑offs while accounting for traffic and client needs.
- Working knowledge of Google Workspace, especially Google Sheets and Google Docs.
- Basic understanding of vehicle maintenance, including checking fluid levels, tyre pressure, and performing routine inspections.
- Familiarity with standard emergency response procedures for road incidents in the country of operation.
- Comfort with common vehicle technologies such as infotainment systems and safety features.
