Role Overview
This position is the on-the-ground change management anchor for a major business transformation programme, ensuring that local teams in Kenya understand, embrace, and adopt the new solutions being introduced. The role sits between the central programme team, country leadership, and end users, turning high-level change strategy into practical, everyday guidance. Day to day, the focus is on preparing people for change, keeping communication flowing, monitoring readiness and adoption, and removing friction points before, during, and after implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a working knowledge of the transformation programme's roadmap, project milestones, and the specific tools being deployed (including DRIVE, DECLARE, and CARLO) to serve as a credible local reference point.
- Introduce the programme to local teams through briefings, workshops, and structured change materials supplied by the central team, building early awareness and buy-in.
- Participate in impact assessment sessions to identify how new processes and systems will affect roles, workflows, team structures, and daily operations.
- Build and coordinate a local network of programme ambassadors, ensuring they receive proper onboarding, ongoing coaching, and clear guidance so they can support change activities and act as trusted influencers.
- Liaise with local HR and central teams on recruitment for deployment-related roles, with particular emphasis on hiring Deployment Officers.
- Help project managers across the programme and related initiatives with change-related tasks, including communication plans, stakeholder mapping, and readiness tracking.
- Tailor and roll out the programme's communication kit locally, keeping messages relevant, timely, and easy for operational teams to act on.
- Track adoption using surveys and other feedback tools, escalating concerns, risks, and resistance points to the central change team, and maintaining a visible presence on-site during go-live and hypercare to support managers and users directly.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Several years of proven experience in change management, stakeholder engagement, or internal communications, ideally within a large-scale transformation or technology rollout.
- Solid understanding of local operational processes, legacy systems, and the realities of everyday workflows in the country context.
- Comfort with IT solutions and digital tools; familiarity with transport management systems (TMS) is an advantage.
- Strong listening and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with both managers and frontline users.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation abilities, able to adapt messages to different audiences.
- Demonstrated capacity to animate and motivate a network of volunteer ambassadors or similar peer champions.
- Ability to work effectively across cultures and geographies, balancing central programme requirements with local priorities.
- Fluency in English is required.
