Role Overview
This position keeps our supply chain moving by delivering fresh fish and essential inputs between our Kenya-based logistics hubs. On any given day you will be behind the wheel, inspecting your vehicle, mapping efficient routes, and working closely with dispatch to protect perishable cargo from farm gate to destination. Your reliability directly supports a fast-growing aquaculture operation that depends on timely, safe, and temperature-controlled transport to serve its customers and reduce waste.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport fresh fish, farm inputs, and other company goods between Victory Farms’ logistics centers across Kenya while following set schedules and delivery priorities.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, checking brakes, tires, fluids, lights, and refrigeration systems to confirm roadworthiness.
- Report mechanical issues, damage, accidents, or safety hazards immediately, and cooperate with maintenance teams to keep the vehicle in line with preventive service schedules.
- Protect cold-chain integrity by monitoring temperature conditions, securing loads properly, and using safe handling practices throughout each trip and during loading and unloading.
- Plan and alter routes as needed using Google Maps or other approved navigation tools to avoid congestion, road closures, or weather-related delays.
- Keep the assigned vehicle fueled, clean, and ready for the next dispatch, and check that all cargo is secured before departure.
- Record trip details accurately, including journey logs, fuel consumption, delivery confirmations, and inspection findings, and submit these documents to the logistics team.
- Maintain clear communication with dispatch and warehouse teams about progress, delays, or incidents, and follow emergency procedures if a breakdown or accident occurs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum KCSE certificate; a diploma or higher qualification is considered a strong advantage.
- Valid driving license with at least class CE, authorizing operation of the heavy vehicles used for this work.
- At least three years of proven experience in commercial or long-haul driving, ideally with perishable or time-sensitive freight.
- Clean driving record and solid knowledge of Kenyan road networks, traffic laws, and NTSA compliance requirements.
- Comfort using navigation apps such as Google Maps and basic digital tools for trip recording and communication.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to identify early signs of vehicle trouble and perform minor roadside checks.
- Strong attention to detail, good verbal communication, and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to travel long distances and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when delivery schedules require it.
What We Offer / Why Join
This role gives you direct exposure to one of the world’s fastest-growing aquaculture companies and the chance to contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on sustainable food production. You will receive practical coaching and mentorship from an experienced team, along with unique insight into how successful entrepreneurs and social-sector leaders build and scale operations across East Africa.
