Role Overview
This role focuses on strengthening the company’s retail footprint by ensuring that Subscriber Service Outlets (SSOs) and mobile-money agents are well equipped, properly trained, and consistently supported. Day to day, you will visit assigned outlets, monitor inventory levels of SIM cards and electronic float, uphold visual merchandising standards, and provide hands-on guidance on regulatory processes. Your work directly drives sales performance, agent retention, and customer acquisition in a fast-paced telecom environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and recruit new agents and SSOs, prioritising high-traffic retail stores and mobile-money outlets, and maintain an accurate map of the assigned territory.
- Follow a structured route plan to conduct regular visits at each outlet, ensuring consistent contact and relationship building.
- Deliver all necessary business tools (e.g., activation kits, point-of-sale materials) and provide practical training to agents and SSOs on transaction processes and system usage.
- Train agents on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) obligations and test their understanding; instruct SSOs on the Know Your Customer (KYC) process as it relates to SIM registration.
- Monitor float levels and stock coverage, enforcing a minimum of 1.5 times the typical sales volume for mobile-money agents, and verify that SSOs maintain adequate SIM inventory for new activations.
- Maintain high merchandising standards by placing and refreshing display materials at all outlets to maximise brand visibility and encourage walk-in purchases.
- Track sales performance and stock movement during each visit, reporting any discrepancies or shortages to the Area Sales Manager.
- Build strong professional relationships with outlet owners and staff, acting as the primary point of contact for operational and commercial support.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- At least one year of experience in a sales or distribution role within an FMCG or telecommunications company.
- Proven ability to build rapport with retail partners and influence decision-making at the outlet level.
- Strong networking skills and experience in forming productive partnerships with independent agents and store owners.
- Analytical mindset to interpret sales data, identify stock gaps, and propose corrective actions.
- Excellent verbal communication and training facilitation skills.
