Job Description

Role Overview

This is a hands-on Senior Accountant position with an established manufacturer based along the Mombasa Road commercial corridor. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will run the day-to-day financial cycle — from reconciling bank and ledger accounts to preparing IFRS-compliant management reports — while also supervising a small accounting team. Your work will directly support production continuity by ensuring cash flow stays healthy, supplier and customer accounts are accurate, and the business remains fully compliant with Kenyan tax and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements using IFRS/GAAP, making sure all general ledger entries are properly classified and supported before submission to the Head of Finance.
  • Own the month-end close process by reconciling balance sheet accounts, bank transactions, supplier payables, customer receivables, and inventory records, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Analyse financial trends, revenue fluctuations, and cost drivers, then present clear variance commentary and actionable insights to leadership for operational decision-making.
  • Monitor daily cash positions and bank balances, prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts, and recommend funding moves that protect working capital.
  • Supervise the accounts payable and receivable cycles — approving vendor payment runs, managing credit limits, and chasing overdue customer balances while coordinating with procurement, sales, and logistics to clear invoice disputes.
  • Act as the main point of contact for internal and external auditors, preparing working papers, audit schedules, and supporting documentation to ensure clean audit outcomes.
  • Lead tax compliance for VAT, PAYE, and corporate tax, keep up with changes in Kenyan tax legislation, and enforce internal controls and financial policies across the team.
  • Mentor junior accountants, review their work for accuracy, and drive automation initiatives across the company’s ERP system to reduce manual effort and improve turnaround time.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field from a recognised institution.
  • Professional certification — CPA (K), ACCA, or an equivalent recognised accounting qualification — is mandatory.
  • At least 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience in a manufacturing, logistics, or similar high-volume commercial environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Odoo, or QuickBooks, combined with advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis and financial modelling.
  • Strong working knowledge of Kenyan tax laws, IFRS reporting requirements, and treasury management principles.
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise a small finance team, including task assignment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to produce accurate reports under strict monthly deadlines without compromising quality.

What We Offer / Why Join

This is a full-time, on-site role located along the Mombasa Road corridor — an accessible hub for professionals living in or near Nairobi’s industrial and southern transport zones. The position offers a competitive monthly salary of KSh 180,000 and places you at the centre of a manufacturing finance operation, where you will gain broad exposure to audit, tax, treasury, and team leadership under the direct guidance of the Head of Finance.
