Role Overview
Based in Mombasa, the Talent Acquisition Specialist manages recruitment from the first discussion about a vacancy through offer and onboarding coordination. Working closely with hiring managers, this mid-level role builds candidate pipelines, evaluates applicants, and keeps hiring activity organised and compliant with Kenyan employment requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Clarify role requirements with department leaders and prepare job profiles and vacancy announcements aligned with hiring priorities.
- Find and engage candidates through LinkedIn Recruiter, job platforms, referrals, and internal CV records, including outreach to passive prospects.
- Manage each recruitment stage, including application review, interviews, assessments, reference checks, and preparation of employment offers.
- Use structured and behavioural interview methods to assess skills, experience, and suitability for the position.
- Coordinate interview schedules and panel assessments, verify academic credentials, and provide candidates with clear, timely updates.
- Maintain accurate recruitment records and candidate pipelines in ATS and HRIS platforms.
- Prepare weekly reports on measures such as time to fill, cost per hire, candidate conversion, and outstanding vacancies.
- Follow company hiring procedures and Kenyan employment legislation when managing checks, recruitment decisions, and contract terms.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Two to five years of relevant experience in talent acquisition, recruitment consultancy, or an HR recruiter role.
- Practical experience with ATS and HRIS software, LinkedIn Recruiter, and advanced Microsoft Excel for recruitment reporting.
- Working knowledge of Kenyan employment law, statutory hiring requirements, and employment contract regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to source specialist talent, approach passive candidates, and develop candidate pipelines.
- Strong interviewing and evaluation skills, with the judgement to assess applicants consistently and objectively.
- Clear written and verbal communication, effective stakeholder management, and strong organisational skills.
