Job Title: Systems Administrator
Job Purpose
The Systems Administrator is responsible for the availability, performance, security, and lifecycle management of enterprise systems across on-premises and cloud environments. The role ensures reliable operations of servers, virtualization platforms, storage, directory services, and core enterprise applications, while maintaining a strong security posture, resilience, and compliance with IT policies and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and monitor the availability, performance, and security of on-premises and cloud-based servers, virtualization platforms, and storage systems.
- Manage directory services (e.g., Active Directory, Azure AD) and core enterprise applications.
- Perform system lifecycle management including patching, upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery testing.
- Implement and enforce security policies, access controls, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy new system solutions.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and changes in accordance with ITIL best practices.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience
3–7 years of experience administering enterprise systems in both on-premises and cloud environments.
Certifications (Preferred)
- Microsoft: AZ-104, SC-300, MS-102
- VMware: VCP-DCV
- Linux: RHCSA or LFCS
- ITIL Foundation
- Security: CompTIA Security+, AZ-500, or equivalent
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu), and virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V).
- Experience with cloud services (Microsoft Azure, AWS) including IaaS, PaaS, and identity management.
- Proficiency in backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Azure Backup).
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, firewalls).
- Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
