Principal Infrastructure Engineer

Role Overview

This principal infrastructure engineering position at Solvo Global centers on keeping complex hosting environments dependable, secure, and ready to scale. The person in this role moves between hands-on engineering and technical leadership, guiding cloud, Linux, and Windows platforms through architecture decisions, automation improvements, incident response, and modernization work. Key Responsibilities

• Protect uptime and performance across cloud, Linux, and Windows hosting services by monitoring system health, reviewing logs, and resolving issues before they affect customers.
• Build, install, upgrade, patch, and retire servers and infrastructure components while managing deployments across the environments they support.
• Serve as a senior escalation point for difficult problems spanning application stacks, network connectivity, authentication, access controls, SSL certificates, and traffic behavior.
• Extend configuration management and automation practices by creating scripts and operational workflows that reduce manual effort and make infrastructure more consistent.
• Design, document, and test disaster recovery procedures so critical services can recover from outages and disruptions with minimal business impact.
• Contribute to infrastructure architecture and capacity planning, including technical specifications, hardware and networking recommendations, and collaboration with hosting or managed service partners.
• Lead significant infrastructure projects from planning through delivery, keeping timelines visible and aligning work with business and leadership priorities.
• Mentor less experienced engineers, share technical guidance, and partner with development and support teams to provision services, configure customer accounts, and debug application issues across infrastructure environments.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or another related technical discipline.
• Seven to ten years of professional experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, cloud infrastructure, or a closely related area.
• Advanced hands-on support of both Linux and Windows server environments.
• Solid networking foundation and familiarity with enterprise infrastructure patterns, including connectivity, traffic, and access troubleshooting.
• Experience working with databases in production settings, including supporting their reliability and performance.
• Strong diagnostic and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to stay methodical during complex incidents.
• Clear communication and a customer-service mindset when working with technical peers, leadership, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment with changing technologies, plus flexibility to participate in after-hours maintenance, upgrades, and support activities when required.
