Senior Lecturer - Digital Forensic

Role Overview

This position calls for a passionate academic to join the university’s computing and digital sciences faculty, where you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in data science, cybersecurity, and digital forensics. Your role will also involve mentoring postgraduate candidates through their research journeys, while building a strong personal research profile that strengthens the department’s standing. You will meaningfully shape both the next generation of technology professionals and the university’s contribution to solving real-world security and data challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate course content in areas such as data science, computer security, digital forensics, and cyber threat management.
• Supervise postgraduate students in their research projects, theses, and dissertations from topic conception through to successful completion.
• Conduct original, publishable research and disseminate findings through recognised scholarly journals and academic conferences.
• Contribute to the review and enhancement of curriculum materials to reflect current industry trends and emerging security threats.
• Set, administer, and mark assessments, providing constructive feedback that supports student academic development.
• Participate in departmental committees, quality assurance activities, and any academic administrative duties essential to faculty operations.
• Engage with relevant professional bodies and academic networks to stay current with best practices in forensic computing and data science.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A completed PhD in Data Science, Computer Security, Digital Forensics, Cyber Security, or a closely related discipline from an accredited and recognised university.
• At least three years of teaching experience at university level as a Lecturer, or six years of relevant experience in research or industry practice.
• A minimum of thirty-two publication points, with at least twenty-four of those points originating from refereed scholarly journals.
• Evidence of having supervised at least three postgraduate students to completion at the Lecturer level or the equivalent.
• Registration with the relevant professional body, where applicable to the field of practice.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, a clear research agenda, and a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and ethical practice.
