Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits at the heart of curriculum practice in an International Primary Curriculum school, where the person appointed leads the design, delivery, and ongoing refinement of IPC units across year levels. Day to day, the role blends classroom teaching with coaching colleagues, auditing planning and assessment, and keeping the school's inquiry-driven approach consistent from one classroom to the next. It matters because the quality of IPC implementation directly shapes how engaged, independent, and internationally minded the school's learners become — and because teachers need a knowledgeable leader beside them as they grow into that pedagogy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and continuous review of IPC units across the primary school, ensuring learning goals, entry points, knowledge harvests, and exit points are planned and delivered with fidelity.
  • Coordinate curriculum mapping and vertical articulation so units build coherently across year groups and connect meaningfully to host-country and international perspectives.
  • Model effective inquiry-based teaching, learner agency, and differentiation through demonstration lessons, team teaching, and shared planning sessions.
  • Oversee IPC assessment practice, supporting teachers in gathering, moderating, and using evidence of learning to inform next steps.
  • Design and deliver professional development for teaching teams, including induction for staff new to the IPC, workshop series, and ongoing coaching cycles.
  • Mentor and coach individual teachers, offering structured feedback on planning, classroom practice, and unit documentation.
  • Audit planning documents, unit files, and rubrics, providing constructive feedback and maintaining school-wide consistency in expectations.
  • Collaborate with school leadership, subject leads, and external IPC networks to align curriculum decisions with the school's wider strategic and accreditation goals.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education from a recognised institution.
  • Valid teaching qualification together with current registration or licence to teach.
  • A minimum of five years' classroom teaching experience, ideally gained in an international school setting.
  • Two to three years of experience in curriculum leadership, coordination, or structured mentoring of colleagues.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and coordinating the International Primary Curriculum, with recognised IPC training or certification preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of inquiry-based learning, learner agency, differentiation, and IPC assessment practice.
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and facilitate professional development for IPC teachers.
