Role Overview
This position combines two closely related subjects in one teaching role: you will guide learners through Mathematics and Computer Studies, helping them build the reasoning and digital fluency they need in a competency-based classroom. Day to day, the work centres on translating the Competency-Based Education (CBE) curriculum into lessons that learners can actively engage with, then tracking how each learner is progressing against those competencies. The role matters because strong numeracy and practical ICT skills are foundational for learners' later studies and work, and the school relies on this teacher to make that foundation solid and measurable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and teach Mathematics and Computer Studies lessons that follow the Competency-Based Education (CBE) framework, with clear learning outcomes for each session.
- Produce and maintain the supporting documentation for teaching — schemes of work, daily lesson plans, and the learning materials and resources used in class.
- Set, administer, and mark both formative and summative assessments, then use the results to adjust instruction and address gaps in learner understanding.
- Track each learner's academic progress, keep accurate and up-to-date records, and give feedback promptly enough to be useful to learners and parents.
- Manage the classroom environment so that it stays orderly, inclusive, and conducive to participation, applying consistent discipline where needed.
- Embed technology and hands-on practice into lessons, using digital tools to make abstract mathematical and computing concepts concrete.
- Take part in co-curricular programmes, school events, and other activities that extend learning beyond the timetabled classroom.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers and school management on planning, shared challenges, and whole-school initiatives, and carry out additional duties assigned by management.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Education with a specialisation in Mathematics and Computer Studies/ICT, or an equivalent relevant subject combination.
- At least two years of teaching experience.
- Valid TSC registration — this is mandatory.
- Hands-on teaching experience within the Competency-Based Education (CBE) system.
- Proven ability to teach Mathematics and Computer Studies effectively at the relevant level.
- Confident classroom management and clear communication skills.
- Comfortable using digital learning tools and technology in instruction.
- Strong interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- A professional, dependable approach and genuine commitment to learners' academic growth.
