Job Description

Role Overview

This role is centred on expanding the company's customer base for solar power equipment, operating from the Mombasa Road facility in Nairobi. A typical day involves qualifying incoming leads, visiting client sites to assess energy requirements, building proposals around inverters and storage systems, and negotiating terms that work for both the customer and the business. The position matters because it directly influences market share in Kenya's growing commercial and residential solar sector, and the person in this seat is expected to close orders that keep the distribution pipeline healthy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop quarterly selling plans for the residential, commercial, and industrial segments, targeting measurable revenue growth from each category.
  • Maintain a structured pipeline of prospects and existing accounts, updating stages, follow-ups, and projected close dates on a rolling basis.
  • Identify and pursue bulk purchase opportunities with construction firms, manufacturing facilities, institutions, and agricultural operations that need dependable power backup or solar-based energy supply.
  • Deliver product presentations and on-site demonstrations that translate technical specifications into clear financial returns for decision-makers.
  • Lead commercial negotiations around pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and after-sales support, protecting the company's margins while keeping the client committed.
  • Act as the main point of contact for assigned key accounts, responding promptly to inquiries and coordinating with technical staff for system design, installation, and maintenance matters.
  • Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and regulatory changes in Kenya's energy market, then relay this intelligence to the management team to shape future offers.
  • Prepare periodic sales reports covering achievements, challenges, forecasts, and recommended actions for the Head of Business Development.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three years of verifiable corporate or B2B sales experience, with a substantial part focused on solar inverters, batteries, power backup equipment, or similar clean-energy offerings.
  • Working knowledge of solar PV system configurations, battery technologies, net metering guidelines, and common energy challenges faced by businesses in Kenya.
  • Willingness to travel across assigned territories for client meetings, site surveys, product walkthroughs, and closure visits.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert technical product details into persuasive commercial proposals aimed at senior executives and procurement teams.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a track record of managing high-value deals through multiple decision-makers.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management tools and a disciplined approach to recording sales activity.

What We Offer / Why Join

The compensation package provides a base salary in the range of KSh 50,000 to KSh 90,000 per month, supplemented by commission earnings tied directly to the volume of sales achieved. This is an opportunity to operate at the centre of a rapidly expanding energy segment and take a leading role in supplying clean power systems to commercial and industrial clients. The position also offers room to shape new sales territories, customise packages for different client types, and influence the company's overall approach to market penetration.
