Role Overview

As a Card Sales Manager, you will be accountable for expanding the bank's cardholder base and driving profitable usage across physical and virtual card products. Your leadership will directly influence both new account origination and the long-term health of the card portfolio, balancing aggressive sales growth with sound credit quality. In this role, you will lead a team of sales professionals, coordinate campaigns, and leverage market insights to keep the bank’s card offerings competitive and customer-focused.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the card sales team to acquire new credit, debit, and prepaid card customers, ensuring both physical and virtual card issuance targets are met.
  • Drive card activation and ongoing usage through targeted customer engagement, aiming to increase transaction volume and revenue contribution from card products.
  • Oversee the extension of credit limits, ensuring a balanced asset book with acceptable non-performing loan (NPL) ratios.
  • Identify emerging business opportunities in the card market and deepen client relationships through cross-selling of other banking products to maximize overall account profitability.
  • Foster strong customer loyalty by introducing and promoting customer-friendly card features, resolving pain points, and maintaining high service standards.
  • Set clear performance expectations for the sales team, including a minimum of 10 closed sales per member per month, while coaching individuals to exceed those benchmarks.
  • Take an active leadership role in product campaigns, including delivering presentations and coordinating the rollout of revised application forms and other sales enablers.
  • Collect and analyse market intelligence from the field sales team, translating insights into actionable recommendations for product enhancements or modifications.
  • Deliver ongoing training and coaching to both direct sales staff and branch personnel, building a strong, skilled, and motivated sales force.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A recognised business-related degree from an accredited institution.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in card issuing operations, including knowledge of card scheme rules and issuance workflows.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in a sales role within banking or financial services, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
  • At least 1 year of experience managing a card portfolio, including monitoring credit risk and portfolio performance.
  • At least 2 years of experience in card services, covering customer support, card fulfilment, and operational troubleshooting.
  • At least 1 year of experience in relationship management, demonstrating an ability to maintain high-value client connections and pursue cross-selling opportunities.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including team motivation, performance management, and coaching.
  • Strong analytical and market research skills, with the ability to convert data into product strategy recommendations.
