Role Overview
This is an entry and training-grade nursing position in which you will work under the close guidance of senior nursing officers. Your daily work involves assessing patients, planning and carrying out nursing care, evaluating how well patients respond, and supporting key public-health services such as maternal and child health. The role is essential for maintaining a reliable, well-documented and safe nursing service, while serving as a structured starting point for a longer career in the nursing cadre.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients' health conditions and identify their immediate and ongoing care needs.
- Plan, implement and evaluate nursing interventions, adjusting care based on patients' responses.
- Provide routine and preventive health services, including integrated management of childhood illnesses, immunisation, PMTCT, antenatal care and delivery.
- Offer health education and counselling to patients, families and the wider community on identified health needs.
- Refer patients or clients to appropriate levels of care when their condition requires additional attention.
- Facilitate admissions and support discharge planning in line with the health facility's procedures.
- Keep clear, accurate records of each patient's condition, treatment and progress, and compile required data.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe clinical environment for patients and staff.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma in any of these nursing disciplines from a recognised institution: Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing, Kenya Registered Nursing, Kenya Registered Midwifery, Kenya Registered Nursing/Midwifery, or Kenya Registered Nursing/Mental Health and Psychiatry.
- Certificate of registration from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- A valid practising licence from the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- A certificate in computer application skills from a recognised institution.
- This is an entry and training grade, so no previous nursing work experience is required beyond the qualifications listed above.
What We Offer / Why Join
This is a three-month contract that can be renewed once, giving you a structured period of professional practice and exposure to supervised clinical work. The salary is set in the CPSB 11 scale, beginning at Kshs. 26,900 per month and advancing through the scale to Kshs. 35,380 per month.
