Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits within a hospital-based dental service, where you will carry the full arc of patient care — from the first diagnostic examination through treatment, follow-up, and long-term preventive guidance. You will work with patients across a broad range of oral health needs, including complex orofacial pain and oral medicine presentations that require close coordination with other clinical teams. The value you bring is twofold: restoring and protecting patients' oral health through sound clinical judgement, and representing the dental service as a dependable, compassionate part of the wider hospital.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough oral examinations and diagnostic assessments, ordering and interpreting dental radiographs and other investigations as clinically indicated.
  • Deliver routine and advanced dental treatment, including restorative work, endodontic care, extractions, and prosthetic rehabilitation appropriate to your scope of practice.
  • Assess, manage, and where necessary refer patients presenting with orofacial pain, temporomandibular complaints, and oral medicine conditions such as mucosal lesions or persistent facial pain.
  • Provide preventive services and patient education on oral hygiene, diet, and risk factors, with the aim of reducing recurrence and improving long-term oral health outcomes.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely patient records covering diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures performed, and outcomes.
  • Comply with hospital procurement and supply policies when requesting materials, instruments, and consumables for patient care.
  • Uphold infection control, sterilisation, and clinical safety standards throughout all procedures.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals on shared or medically complex cases.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery or an equivalent recognised qualification in dentistry.
  • Valid registration with the relevant Medical Practitioners & Dentists Council.
  • A current private practising licence.
  • At least 2–3 years of post-internship experience in general dentistry.
  • Demonstrated clinical exposure to orofacial pain and oral medicine.
  • Advanced training such as ACLS or ATLS is preferred.
  • Sharp attention to detail and a results-driven approach to treatment planning and follow-up.
  • Genuine empathy and a patient-centred manner, particularly when treating anxious or vulnerable patients.

Why Join

This is an opportunity to practise within a hospital setting where dentistry connects directly to broader patient health, giving you exposure to medically complex cases and multidisciplinary collaboration that a standalone clinic rarely offers. You will be part of a team that expects high clinical standards and supports the shared goal of improving oral health across the community it serves.
