Job Description

Role Overview~

  • Support accounting operations for a diverse portfolio of multifamily real estate assets.
  • Responsible for end-to-end accounting cycle, ensuring accuracy of financial statements from third-party property management companies.
  • Perform corporate bank reconciliations and manage complex reporting and billing processes.
  • Detail-oriented professional who understands the overall property financials.
  • Comfortable working across multiple entities and mastering specialized systems like RealPage.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities~

  • Financial Oversight~ Review monthly financial statements from third-party property management companies for accuracy; provide comments and resolve discrepancies.
  • Full-Cycle Accounting~ Prepare monthly financial reporting for corporate entities, including posting journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts with appropriate support.
  • Reconciliations~ Perform monthly bank reconciliations for corporate and property-level development entities.
  • Reporting & Systems~ Generate monthly financial and operational reports using RealPage and support property chargeback billing reconciliations.
  • Accounts Payable~ Assist with AP processing, including invoice coding and payment tracking.
  • Audit & Tax Support~ Coordinate with external preparers by providing documentation for audits and tax returns; assist with budget tracking and ad hoc financial projects.
  • Data Management~ Maintain organized digital and physical accounting records.

Core Requirements (Non-Negotiable)~

  • Industry Expertise~ Direct, professional experience in the Real Estate industry.
  • Full-Cycle Proficiency~ Proven ability to manage the entire accounting cycle for an entity or property. Seeking "big picture" thinkers, not candidates limited to siloed tasks.
  • Technical Knowledge~ Strong, expert-level command of GAAP accounting standards.
  • Software Skills~ Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Suite. Experience with RealPage is highly preferred.

Qualifications & Skills~

  • Experience~ Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in Public Accounting, Real Estate, or Corporate Accounting roles.
  • Critical Thinking~ Ability to work independently, identify complex issues, and proactively resolve errors.
  • Organization~ Excellent attention to detail with ability to manage multiple entities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Collaborative Spirit~ Eager to learn and thrive in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
