Inbound Tracker – Supply Chain

Role Overview

This position sits inside a fast-moving transport operations team, where you will keep a constant eye on all inbound courier movements from pickup to delivery. Your main focus is making sure the right vehicle gets to the right load at the right time, while keeping every stakeholder informed of progress, exceptions, and likely delays. The work matters because a single missed update or wrongly sized allocation can ripple through the entire supply chain, so your vigilance directly protects delivery windows and customer confidence.

Key Responsibilities

• Track all inbound courier journeys in real time using GPS and telematics platforms, flagging any deviation from planned routes or arrival windows.
• Match each inbound load to the correct vehicle category based on commodity type, volume, weight, and any special handling requirements.
• Send proactive, live updates to internal teams and external partners whenever a trip status changes, including departures, stops, and expected arrival times.
• Spot emerging risks such as breakdowns, traffic congestion, or weather disruption, then escalate them with clear context and suggested mitigation steps.
• Build and maintain daily visibility reports and dashboards that show where every inbound trip stands against its schedule.
• Coordinate closely with the Control Tower Analyst to feed inbound transport data into broader supply chain reporting and exception management.
• Ensure every inbound movement follows the agreed standard operating procedures, key performance indicators, and service level commitments.
• Act as the first point of escalation for any inbound delivery issue that could affect downstream warehousing or customer fulfilment.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in logistics, transport management, supply chain, or a closely related discipline.
• At least two years of hands-on experience in transport or logistics operations, ideally with direct responsibility for tracking and dispatching vehicles.
• Practical familiarity with GPS tracking systems, telematics hardware, and fleet management software.
• Working knowledge of data handling methods, including the ability to pull, clean, and interpret transport data from multiple sources.
• Confidence with Excel for reporting and analysis, and ideally exposure to Power BI for building simple visual dashboards.
• Strong organisational ability, with the discipline to manage multiple live trips simultaneously without losing sight of any one shipment.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially when explaining problems or escalating issues to people who are not looking at the same screen as you.
• A calm, analytical approach to problem-solving under time pressure, and the flexibility to adapt when plans change without notice.
