Role Overview
This role owns the daily execution of HR operations, turning policies into workable processes for managers and staff. It keeps payroll inputs, leave planning, recruitment, performance cycles, employee relations, and HR reporting accurate and timely, while helping the organization meet Kenyan employment law and accepted HR standards. The position matters because reliable HR delivery protects operational continuity, improves manager confidence, and gives employees a fair and well-supported work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile payroll variables for staff, confirm each item has correct justification, and submit them within payroll deadlines.
- Maintain ongoing contact with heads of department, supervisors, and employees to identify HR issues early; act as a first point of contact for concerns, grievances, and conflicts and help resolve them promptly and fairly.
- Plan and coordinate annual leave for supervised employees so staffing remains sufficient and operations continue smoothly throughout the year.
- Conduct induction for new staff and make sure they receive the necessary tools and information to begin work effectively.
- Keep job descriptions and KPIs up to date by working with employees and department heads, and support performance reviews, appraisals, performance improvement plans, and employee development programs.
- Manage recruitment and implement sourcing strategies to attract strong candidates, working with the Human Resource Manager and line managers to ensure hiring follows established policies.
- Support compensation, benefits, and incentive administration; identify training needs, coordinate workshops and seminars, and track whether learning activities improve skills and performance.
- Draft employment-related letters and correspondence, gather HR data for agreed reporting areas, and help carry out decisions that come from HR reports.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, organizational development, or a related discipline.
- CHRP professional certification is highly preferred.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in a comparable HR role; previous experience in a logistics company would be an added advantage.
- Proven ability to partner with business leaders and to handle grievance and disciplinary matters.
- Working knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and legal compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office, and employee management systems.
- Active membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
