Role Overview
This position puts you at the centre of a multi-brand media and telecommunications group, where you will own how Wananchi, Zuku, and SimbaNET are seen by customers, investors, regulators, and the public. Day to day, you will translate business goals into sharp brand narratives, steer integrated campaigns from concept to delivery, and protect the group’s reputation when issues arise. Your work will directly shape market perception, subscriber growth, and stakeholder trust across three distinct but connected brands.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive the long-term brand architecture, positioning, and equity for each of the three brands while ensuring a coherent group-level narrative.
- Lead corporate communications strategy, including executive messaging, press releases, media briefings, and annual reporting content.
- Act as the senior point of authority for crisis communications and reputation management, developing protocols and responding swiftly to issues that could affect brand trust.
- Oversee the planning and execution of integrated digital, ATL, and BTL campaigns that generate measurable engagement and conversion across consumer and enterprise segments.
- Direct internal and employee communications to reinforce culture, align teams, and support change management initiatives.
- Manage content strategy, social media channels, and stakeholder engagement plans to ensure consistent, compelling storytelling across all touchpoints.
- Build and mentor a high-performing brand and communications team, setting clear objectives and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
- Partner with commercial, product, and customer experience teams to ensure brand messaging is grounded in real product value and customer insight.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 12 years of progressive experience in brand management, marketing, or corporate communications, with a substantial portion in fast-paced, multi-brand environments.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role, with demonstrated success in setting strategy, managing budgets, and leading teams.
- Track record of managing major consumer or B2B brands through full campaign lifecycles, from insight and ideation to launch and post-campaign analysis.
- Deep expertise in PR, media relations, crisis management, and stakeholder engagement, including experience handling sensitive issues under tight timelines.
- Experience in telecoms, ISP, pay-TV, media, or adjacent technology sectors is strongly preferred, with an understanding of subscription models and evolving digital ecosystems.
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related discipline; a postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences.
- Data-driven approach to brand measurement, using insights to refine positioning and campaign effectiveness.
