Role Overview
This is a market-facing commercial role for a Nairobi business that supplies furniture, interior fit-out packages and furnishing solutions to property developers, contractors and corporate buyers. Your week is split between the field and the office: site visits, design and procurement meetings with decision-makers, then back-to-back work with the internal technical and production teams to turn a specification into a priced, delivered and installed order. The employer is deliberately shifting its revenue mix away from walk-in trade and towards contract and project work, so success here means building a durable book of developer, contractor and institutional accounts rather than closing isolated one-off deals. The position is full-time and on-site in Nairobi, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, reporting to the General Manager or Head of Sales, with a monthly salary of KSh 45,000 – KSh 60,000.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, qualify and win new corporate and institutional accounts across property development, hospitality, office and commercial construction.
- Manage the tender and bidding process end to end — preparing commercial proposals, delivering product presentations, negotiating terms and closing contract awards.
- Maintain a live view of upcoming developments across Kenya, including commercial buildings, hotel fit-outs, office refurbishments and residential projects, and engage specifiers and buyers before procurement decisions are locked in.
- Partner with internal technical and production colleagues to prepare accurate cost estimates, product quotations and design-led solutions that reflect real manufacturing and installation constraints.
- Own the full sales cycle from first contact through bidding, order confirmation, delivery, installation and final hand-over.
- Keep CRM records current, track pipeline movement and submit reliable revenue and margin forecasts to senior management.
- Grow a referral network among architects, quantity surveyors, interior designers and project managers, and protect client relationships through the supply and installation phase to secure repeat and follow-on work.
- Represent the business at trade exhibitions, property expos and industry networking events, while monitoring competitor activity, pricing movements and local construction trends.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, Real Estate, Interior Design or a closely related discipline.
- At least five years of verified B2B, corporate or project-based solution selling experience.
- Preferred sector background in furniture, property development, construction, interior fit-out, building materials or another field involving high-value, specification-driven goods.
- Existing working relationships with architects, developers, property managers, interior designers or corporate procurement teams would be a strong advantage.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts, price complex projects, protect gross margin and forecast B2B revenue accurately.
- Comfortable working in Microsoft Office — particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint — and in a CRM platform.
- A self-starting prospecting approach with a track record of opening new accounts and closing deals worth millions of shillings.
- Performance will be judged on revenue and gross margin against target, pipeline volume and conversion, the number of new corporate accounts and projects secured, and retention and repeat business from strategic partners.
