Fullstack Developer

Role Overview

You will own the full delivery lifecycle of digital products at Britam, taking features from a technical specification through to production across mobile, web, and backend layers. Day to day, you will build Flutter-based mobile experiences, craft responsive Next.js interfaces, and design resilient APIs and services with Go, Python, and NestJS — all while collaborating closely with product and design teams to ship business-critical functionality. This role matters because it directly underpins Britam's ability to offer clients a seamless, reliable digital experience across every channel they use.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain cross-platform mobile applications using Flutter and Dart, ensuring consistent behaviour on both iOS and Android.
• Build and optimise server-rendered and client-side web applications with Next.js and React, focusing on performance, accessibility, and responsive layouts.
• Design and implement scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using NestJS, Go, and Python to support mobile and web front ends.
• Contribute to architectural decisions covering system design, database schemas, and cloud infrastructure, balancing scalability with maintainability.
• Write clean, well-tested code by creating unit, integration, and end-to-end tests; debug issues across the entire stack in both development and production environments.
• Participate in code reviews, enforce coding standards, and help maintain CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth and predictable releases.
• Work closely with product managers, UI/UX designers, and other engineers to scope features, refine requirements, and translate business needs into technical deliverables.
• Keep pace with emerging technologies and suggest improvements to workflows, tooling, and code quality to drive continuous delivery improvements.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 2 years of professional experience as a full-stack developer, with proven ability to ship production applications.
• Strong proficiency in Flutter and Dart for building cross-platform mobile applications, including state management and platform integration.
• Hands-on experience developing web applications using Next.js and React, including hooks, routing, and server-side rendering concepts.
• Solid experience creating backend services and APIs with NestJS, Go, and Python, with a good understanding of database design and query optimisation.
• Working knowledge of Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing and deployment processes.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to debug complex issues across mobile, web, and backend boundaries.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, capable of working independently while also contributing effectively within a cross-functional team.
