Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits at the front line of card technology operations, keeping card-related services, settlement cycles, and overnight batch jobs running across the bank and its group companies. The person in this role handles first-level incidents, watches for transaction failures, and works with infrastructure, application, vendor, and business teams to restore service within agreed timeframes. Because card payments and end-of-day processing directly affect customer access and financial accuracy, the role is critical to maintaining trust and uninterrupted operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as first responder for card system incidents and end-of-day batch cycles, covering bank and affiliated group environments on a 24/7 rotation.
  • Track declined card transactions across issuer systems and card network portals, investigating patterns and escalating anomalies before they affect customers.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external vendors, and business stakeholders to prioritize and close service desk tickets within committed SLA windows.
  • Keep issuing and acquiring technical operations running smoothly, including file movements to and from scheme portals and scheduled data exchanges.
  • Monitor APIs, device connectivity, system logs, backups, and service health; troubleshoot outages and restore card services quickly.
  • Maintain admin and user accounts, configure functional parameters on web services, and verify card events, SMS notifications, and scheduler jobs.
  • Run quality checks and regression testing on card systems and intermediary components; support vendor testing, system changes, and small data-capture or reporting tools.
  • Participate in DR/BCP exercises, audit activities, and continuous improvement efforts, suggesting technical or procedural upgrades for card operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, informatics, computer science, or a closely related discipline.
  • At least one year of hands-on experience in card systems support, ATM switching, or a comparable technical operations role.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL for querying, data extraction, and troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to Java, C++, or .NET environments, sufficient to understand application behavior and support integrations.
  • Familiarity with ATM switch technology from both technical and functional perspectives, plus switching or network switching training/certification.
  • Comfort working in UNIX, Linux, MS Windows Server, or Solaris environments.
  • Ability to follow incident, change, and SLA processes; strong attention to detail for logs, schedules, file transfers, and ticket closure.
  • Willingness to support on-call or shift coverage for 24/7 operations and to collaborate with vendors and cross-functional teams.
