Financial Audit Intern

Role Overview

This role supports audit assignments from planning through reporting, helping the team examine financial information, test controls and assess compliance with relevant standards. Your work will provide a clear, well-documented basis for identifying reporting risks, control gaps and issues that may require management attention.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to audit planning and risk assessments, then carry out procedures assigned for each engagement.
• Test transactions and account balances against supporting records to verify their accuracy and completeness.
• Review internal controls and assess whether financial reporting complies with applicable requirements.
• Prepare clear, complete working papers that document procedures performed, evidence gathered and conclusions reached.
• Help identify financial reporting risks, control weaknesses and potential irregularities during audit work.
• Assist with drafting audit findings, management letters and reports.
• Apply relevant IFRS and ISA requirements when performing audit procedures and evaluating evidence.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with an Accounting or Finance option, Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent relevant field.
• First Class Honours or Second Class Honours (Upper Division) in the relevant undergraduate degree.
• All degree requirements must be complete; applicants may have graduated or be awaiting formal graduation.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and auditing standards.
• Good numerical and analytical ability, with strong report-writing and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant accounting or audit tools.
• One to two years of practical experience in external audit, internal audit, accounting or financial reporting is an advantage.
• Progress toward CPA(K), especially completion of relevant professional examination stages, is an advantage.
