Senior Accountant

Role Overview

The Senior Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting and period-end reporting for a UAE cargo and logistics business, maintaining reliable records across its financial operations. The role also provides management with cash flow, budget and variance information, while helping the business meet local tax and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, complete month-end close activities and prepare financial reports.
• Reconcile bank accounts, branch balances and intercompany transactions, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable, and prepare collections reporting.
• Develop cash flow reports and support budgeting and variance analysis.
• Assist with UAE VAT and Corporate Tax compliance and keep supporting records organised.
• Coordinate audit requests and provide accurate financial documentation.
• Maintain sound accounting controls and ensure transactions are recorded correctly in the ERP system.

Requirements & Qualifications

• M.Com or a higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• At least five years of UAE accounting experience, including work in a Senior Accountant or comparable senior-level position.
• Strong command of accounting principles, general ledger management and financial reporting.
• Working knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements.
• Proficiency with ERP accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong reconciliation, analytical and reporting skills, with careful attention to detail and the ability to meet close and reporting deadlines.
• Experience in cargo, courier, logistics or transportation accounting is an advantage.
• A CA, ACCA, CPA or CMA qualification is an advantage.
