Role Overview
This position sits at the intersection of aquaculture operations and data science, turning raw production and environmental data into clear operational intelligence. Day to day, you will pull information from sensors, databases, and spreadsheets, clean it, build dashboards in Power BI, and work with farm teams to interpret what the numbers mean for feeding, water quality, and stocking decisions. Your analyses will directly influence how the business plans production and improves efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Consolidate data from farm-level sources such as production systems, environmental sensors, operational databases, spreadsheets, and APIs, and build reliable pipelines for ongoing analysis.
- Perform thorough data cleaning and validation, spotting anomalies, gaps, and inconsistencies before they reach decision-makers.
- Create and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports focused on production KPIs such as feed conversion, growth rates, water quality, and sales performance.
- Automate recurring reporting tasks so stakeholders receive timely updates without manual intervention.
- Run ad-hoc analyses and scenario models to test how changes in stocking density, feed input, or environmental conditions might affect outcomes and profitability.
- Work with operations and management teams to translate business questions into concrete metrics and data-driven recommendations.
- Support data governance by documenting data dictionaries, lineage, and access controls to keep sensitive information secure and compliant.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, or a related analytical field.
- At least two years of hands-on experience in data analysis, with demonstrated proficiency in Power BI development and tabular data modeling.
- Solid working knowledge of SQL, Python, R, or DAX for querying, transforming, and analyzing data.
- Practical understanding of data governance principles and regulatory frameworks such as GDPR or HIPAA, especially as they apply to sensitive operational data.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to spot trends, diagnose data quality issues, and translate findings into clear business recommendations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects independently, from initial data gathering through final delivery and stakeholder buy-in.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable presenting technical findings to non-technical audiences across departments.
- Experience leading complex analysis projects end-to-end; a Power BI certification is a plus.
