Role Overview
IRES is looking for an experienced electrical engineering professional to support specific training and consultancy assignments on a need basis. You will prepare and deliver practical learning programmes, advise on technical work, and help clients apply engineering principles to real-world challenges. Each engagement will have its own agreed scope, timeframe, deliverables and professional fees.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver technical courses and professional development programmes in electrical engineering.
- Create presentations, case studies, exercises and other materials suited to each assignment and audience.
- Lead workshops, seminars and interactive learning sessions, adapting your approach to participants’ needs.
- Explain engineering methods, technologies and industry practices in a clear, practical way.
- Contribute subject-matter expertise to proposals, course curricula and electrical engineering consultancy work.
- Provide technical advice across relevant areas, including power systems, installations, instrumentation and control, machines, renewable energy and power electronics.
- Review training content to keep it aligned with applicable standards, emerging technologies and current industry practice.
- Check participant understanding and give constructive feedback to support learning.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 7 years of relevant professional experience in electrical engineering.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
- A relevant master’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering or a related discipline is an advantage.
- Registered and licensed with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK), with current membership of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
- Relevant professional certification in your area of specialisation, where applicable.
- Demonstrated experience in technical or professional training, facilitation, presentations or knowledge transfer.
- Working expertise in relevant areas such as power generation, transmission and distribution; protection and system analysis; electrical machines and drives; building services; instrumentation and control; power electronics; renewable and solar energy; energy management; and electrical system design.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, clear communication and presentation skills, and the capacity to make complex technical subjects accessible.
- Professional integrity, attention to detail and the ability to work independently on consultancy assignments.
- Training of Trainers (ToT) certification is an advantage.
