Role Overview
The Consultant Trainer – Mechanical Engineering delivers technical learning and professional development while also contributing specialist advice to mechanical engineering consultancy projects. Engagements are arranged as specific needs arise, with the scope, timing, outputs and fees agreed for each assignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver mechanical engineering training tailored to the subject, audience and assignment objectives.
- Create presentations, case studies, practical exercises and other materials that support applied learning.
- Lead workshops, seminars and professional learning sessions, encouraging participation and knowledge exchange.
- Explain engineering principles, technologies and industry practices in ways participants can apply in their work.
- Contribute technical expertise to training proposals, programme curricula and consultancy assignments.
- Provide mechanical engineering advice and capacity-building support on relevant client assignments.
- Keep course content aligned with developments in engineering technologies, standards and professional practice.
- Check participants’ understanding and provide useful, constructive feedback.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least seven years of relevant professional experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical and Production Engineering.
- A master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline is an advantage.
- Current registration and licence from the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
- Current membership of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
- Relevant professional certification in the candidate’s specialisation, where applicable.
- Demonstrated experience in technical or professional training, workshop facilitation, presentations or knowledge transfer; Training of Trainers certification is an advantage.
- Technical knowledge relevant to areas such as mechanical systems, plant and machinery, maintenance and reliability, manufacturing systems, or HVAC.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, clear communication and presentation skills, attention to detail, professional integrity, and the capacity to work independently as a consultant.
