Role Overview
This position reports to the Business Development Manager – Agency Incubation and owns the growth of new and renewal general insurance and medical business across assigned markets and intermediary channels. Day to day, the role combines relationship-building, sales pipeline management, quotation and tender delivery, and performance tracking to turn agency and intermediary partnerships into profitable revenue. It matters because the employer relies on this function to meet annual revenue budgets, retain existing business, and keep service and credit standards intact while expanding market reach.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with intermediaries and partners in assigned markets, developing them into durable, profitable business partnerships.
- Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and quotation through negotiation, closing, renewal, and retention, using a value-driven service approach.
- Drive daily sales activity and revenue growth across new and renewal general insurance and medical business, supported by disciplined client relationship management.
- Track sales and retention performance against agreed targets, report progress and gaps, and provide market feedback to the Business Development Manager – Agency Incubation.
- Prepare and deliver accurate quotations and tender documents on time, and collaborate with underwriting, claims, finance, and service teams to ensure seamless client and intermediary support.
- Engage intermediaries through visits, performance reviews, training, motivation, and market activation or outreach events in strategic locations.
- Monitor competitor activity and identify opportunities or threats that could affect the assigned portfolio.
- Contribute to departmental planning and budgeting, and ensure compliance with credit control policies, including cash-and-carry discipline and debt collection follow-up.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of two years’ relevant experience in insurance sales.
- Comfort with the full sales cycle, including quotations, tenders, renewals, and retention conversations.
- Ability to build and manage intermediary relationships through agency, broker, or similar channels.
- Strong client relationship management and reporting habits, with the ability to track sales and retention metrics.
- Working knowledge of credit control practices such as cash-and-carry and debt collection follow-up.
- A C.O.P qualification would strengthen your application.
- Clear communication, relationship-building, and cross-department collaboration skills.
