Role Overview
This role provides hands-on civil engineering support across the planning, design, and construction stages of assigned infrastructure works. The graduate engineer helps turn technical requirements into practical, buildable solutions while checking that site activities follow approved drawings, specifications, and safety expectations. The position is important because it strengthens project delivery capacity and helps ensure that civil works meet the standards required for safe, durable, and compliant outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and reviewing civil engineering designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications for assigned infrastructure works.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to confirm that construction activities match approved drawings, technical specifications, and safety requirements.
- Support the preparation of bills of quantities, cost estimates, progress reports, and other project documentation under senior engineering guidance.
- Use computer-aided design and standard office software to produce, update, and organise engineering drawings, schedules, and project records.
- Monitor workmanship and materials on site, reporting deviations or quality concerns to the supervising engineer for timely action.
- Work with project teams, contractors, and technical colleagues to resolve routine engineering issues and keep work programmes on track.
- Maintain orderly project files, inspection checklists, and site diaries to support accountability, audits, and future maintenance planning.
- Attend technical meetings and pursue continuing professional development to strengthen engineering judgment and stay current with relevant codes and standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.
- Registered with the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya as a Graduate Engineer.
- Certificate in computer applications from a recognised institution.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, follow instructions accurately, and communicate clearly with site and office teams.
- Familiarity with standard office software and engineering documentation tools used for design, reporting, and project record-keeping.
