Role Overview
This position leads the technical design of telecommunications solutions from initial customer conversations through to service handover. It sits at the intersection of sales, engineering, and delivery, translating enterprise requirements into architectures that are secure, scalable, cost-aware, and operationally supportable. The employer depends on this role to improve bid quality, reduce technical and delivery risk, and ensure proposed networks can actually be built, run, and grown.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end telecom solution design for customer and business needs, covering architecture, connectivity, capacity, and service layers.
- Act as the technical partner to commercial teams during opportunity development, customer meetings, presentations, and solution clarification.
- Convert customer requirements into scalable, secure designs that balance technical fit, commercial viability, and delivery practicality.
- Lead technical responses for RFPs, RFQs, tenders, and proposals, including compliance matrices, solution documents, and architecture narratives.
- Produce network diagrams, bills of materials, technical specifications, design documents, and reusable solution templates.
- Run feasibility assessments, capacity planning, and architecture reviews for new builds, expansions, upgrades, migrations, and optimisation work.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, and project teams so designs meet network standards and can be implemented, tested, commissioned, and handed over.
- Record and manage technical risks, assumptions, dependencies, and constraints while keeping current with emerging telecom technologies and proposing improvements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Seven or more years in telecommunications, network engineering, solutions architecture, pre-sales engineering, or a comparable technical environment.
- Proven experience designing technical or network solutions for enterprise and corporate customers.
- Practical background supporting RFPs, RFQs, tenders, technical proposals, and pre-sales engagements.
- Hands-on knowledge of network planning, architecture, capacity planning, or engineering delivery.
- Ability to collaborate across commercial, engineering, operations, and project teams.
- Confidence engaging customers and presenting technical solutions to both technical and business audiences.
- Experience working with technology vendors and solution partners is advantageous.
- Formal education in telecommunications, network engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline is typically expected for this seniority.
