Job Description

Role Overview

This role sits within the finance department of a luxury hotel, reporting directly to the Unit Accountant. On a typical day, you will reconcile credit card transactions, chase down payment discrepancies, and support the wider cost-control effort to keep operational spending in line with approved budgets. Your attention to detail directly protects the hotel's financial performance and ensures that every transaction is recorded accurately and transparently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile daily credit card activity between the Property Management System (PMS), payment gateways, and bank statements, investigating and clearing any mismatches.
  • Monitor outstanding credit card receivables and follow up on unresolved or aged items to ensure timely settlement.
  • Support cost-control initiatives by reviewing departmental expenses against budgets and flagging any variances.
  • Conduct periodic stock counts for food, beverages, housekeeping supplies, and other operational inventories.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records, supporting documentation, and audit-ready files for all financial transactions.
  • Coordinate with other departments to verify that expenses are coded correctly and align with company policies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Progress toward CPA Part II/III, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality or hotel industry.
  • Hands-on experience with hotel Property Management Systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Practical knowledge of hotel cost-control procedures, inventory management, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including frequent standing and walking, occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs, and periodic kneeling, pushing, or pulling.
  • Capable of working independently while also partnering effectively with department heads and the finance team.
