Role Overview
This is a senior hunting-focused sales role inside Citi’s Treasury and Trade Solutions franchise, covering the Middle East and Africa. You will spend your time identifying, pursuing, and closing new treasury and transaction banking mandates with multinational corporates, government-linked entities, sovereign funds, public sector bodies, and multilateral institutions. The role matters because new client acquisition and wallet expansion are core growth drivers for the TTS business, and your ability to convert complex opportunities into implemented, revenue-generating relationships directly shapes the region’s performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and execute a multi-year business development plan targeting net-new TTS clients and increased share of wallet across MEA, with a clear focus on underpenetrated accounts and prospect lists.
- Use wallet-sizing analytics, market intelligence, and coverage partnerships to prioritise opportunities and maintain a disciplined pipeline under a hunting mandate.
- Lead the full lifecycle of large treasury deals, from qualification and solution design through RFP submission, commercial negotiation, implementation governance, and first revenue booking.
- Engage C-suite and senior finance stakeholders—CFOs, Group Treasurers, Finance Directors, and government officials—to build trust and position TTS as a strategic partner for complex treasury needs.
- Coordinate deal teams across product, banking, implementation, legal, risk, operations, and service to ensure proposals are competitive, deliverable, and fully aligned with client objectives.
- Originate and close mandates spanning cash management, payments, liquidity, receivables, payables, escrow, trade finance, and digital treasury solutions for corporates and public sector entities.
- Drive proactive client engagement through consultative selling, thought leadership, and tailored solutioning that reflects local regulatory realities and emerging treasury trends.
- Maintain rigorous sales discipline: accurate forecasting, CRM hygiene, structured deal reviews, and clean handoffs to implementation teams.
- Deliver measurable annual targets for new client wins, fee income, deposits, and strategic growth initiatives, while feeding market feedback into product and coverage strategy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 10 years of experience in transaction banking, corporate treasury services, cash management, payments, trade finance, or a closely related financial services field.
- Strong track record of originating, leading, and closing large, cross-border treasury and transaction banking mandates, ideally involving multiple countries or regions.
- Deep commercial knowledge of cash management, payments, liquidity structures, collections, payables, escrow, and trade solutions, with the ability to apply this knowledge to complex client problems.
- Proven experience running competitive bids, multi-party RFPs, and high-stakes negotiations with senior decision-makers.
- Excellent stakeholder navigation skills—comfortable working across internal functions and external client organisations to remove obstacles and drive momentum.
- Strong commercial acumen, analytical ability, and executive presence; able to articulate complex solutions clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
- Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree or professional treasury qualification is strongly preferred.
