Role Overview
This role sits within an assigned sales territory and blends direct selling of day-old chicks—broiler, layer, and Kenbro—with agro-veterinary inputs and ongoing farm-level advisory support. You will be responsible for winning new business, keeping a close eye on customer credit, and helping poultry farmers adopt better management practices. The position directly supports Kenchic's profitability and brand trust, as your work expands the customer base while keeping receivables and company resources in good order.
Key Responsibilities
- Hit monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for day-old chicks and complementary agro-veterinary products, ensuring your territory contributes consistently to overall company profitability.
- Organise and run promotional events such as farm visits, seminars, field days, and livestock shows to drive chick orders from existing and prospective farmers.
- Deliver practical technical guidance on flock health, vaccination protocols, biosecurity, and poultry equipment to new, small-scale, and potential customers, reinforcing the company's quality standards across local farms.
- Gather and document market intelligence on competitor activity, pricing trends, and customer behaviour, then submit clear reports that help management react quickly to changes in the market.
- Maintain a comprehensive customer database for your area, tracking purchase patterns, loyalty levels, and feedback so that your sales strategy stays relevant and responsive.
- Manage assigned company funds, equipment, and product inventory carefully, while also overseeing debt collection and ensuring all financial and operational activities follow internal policies and legal requirements.
- Work closely with Kenchic-appointed distributors and agents to put the regional distribution plan into practice, helping them grow their own customer networks and resolve supply or service issues.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer concerns, collecting feedback, resolving complaints quickly, and escalating unresolved problems to protect long-term relationships and repeat business.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in animal science, animal production, or animal health from a recognised institution.
- A professional certification in marketing is an added advantage.
- At least 2 years of experience in a technical support or advisory role serving poultry farmers, preferably within the poultry industry.
- Full registration with the Kenya Veterinary Board and possession of a valid, current practising licence.
